Dear Diary,

This week has been great with me and my friend getting into routine with our training schedule, the run we have mapped out is getting easier and it feels awesome to get our running fitness back up there again.

At the moment for my training I am doing 3 days outdoor running and bodyweight sessions, 2 days in the gym doing weights sessions and then 1-2 long outdoor walks. This schedule is working amazing for me and I look forward to all the sessions as they are all so enjoyable!

It makes such a big difference to your progress if you love what you are doing, someone else could be doing exactly the same routine but absolutely hate it and not get good results from it because it’s not what they love.  Don’t underestimate the power of negative feelings on your health and wellbeing.  Happiness is very much part of the equation when it comes to creating a healthy body, not just the exercise and food.

Last week I went to ‘Two Birds’ in Hamilton with some friends for the first time and loooved the meal I got there, I’m still working my way around all the raw/organic cafes and stores and love discovering ideas for meals!  I had a beetroot/quinoa salad and chicken rice paper roll – ah so delicious!  Totally inspired me to spend more time cooking as I had let my creativity in the kitchen slide a bit!

As well as running Fit Bella Women I also work as a nanny, a modern day Mary Poppins with a bit of a gypsy swag I like to think .  I absolutely love looking after the kids, and also fun getting to prepare meals for them.  Looking after the children always reminds me just how important the quality of food is for growing bodies. The power of good food is incredible.

On Thursday I spent the afternoon working on Chapter 5 of my book Red Roses & Yellow Daises, I went to save it and don’t know what I did but deleted the whole thing   Although I was a bit pissed that I had lost the whole thing, when I was writing it I did have a feeling that I wasn’t too sure if it was the right time to talk about some of the things I wanted to write about. My answer was given to me when it was all deleted by accident! Thanks universe I told my friend about it and she said “Oh no, I’ve done that before – but it’s always better the 2nd time you write it”, she was right  all rewritten now and ready to go!

After my little deleting incident, I went for my 7K loop walk that I LOVE to do.  It goes through the Auckland Domain and there are some just beautiful locations through there.  Its amazing how much an outdoor walk can clear your head and make you centered again, if you are ever feeling stressed or overwhelmed – seriously, go for a scenic walk and breathe!  I love finding the quirkiest spots around the city too, I’m going to do a walking photo shoot next week on one of my adventure walks

This week I was thinking about people following their passions, I am definitely in the position where I am completely following my passion and it is amazing and hope others take the leap to experience it too.  At the same time, it doesn’t mean it is easy.  I literally started this business from nothing, it was a idea that came out of the blue that grew from there and has most definitely helped me grow as a person.  It has allowed me to put all my creative energy into building something with my style, being able to help others and leaving my mark on the world.

I am not naturally business minded at all, an introverted woman with a creative and dreamy mind – it has taken a lot of learning and patience for me to run a business!  I’ve learnt so much though, I have put in 2 years of building this so far and as anyone who is self employed knows, there are ups and downs.

As I was thinking about this on my drive home I stopped at a petrol station and this picture stared me straight in the face (the painted one on the side of the building).  The people in the picture on the right, to me, don’t look happy. They have their heads down, gloomy looks on their faces, stuck in the rat race of life, perhaps in a mundane job that they don’t like.  On the left, are the artists, the creative’s, they look like they are following their hearts. Perhaps they don’t make as much money as the people on the right, but they are HAPPY.  They are doing what they love, so therefore, they have richness in their lives.  That’s how I interpret it anyway…..

I urge everyone to follow their passions, there are ways to make it work, it may take time for everything to fall into place, but there is no reason why you can’t live your life the way you want to.

This picture put a big smile on my face, it makes everything worth it.  Every day I get to work on my business, the artwork I’m creating in life.  I know this is exactly what I’m meant to be doing and I wouldn’t change it for the world.  I am not stuck in a mundane routine, and although I still have much I want to work on, and building my empire is hard work, I am currently living my dream – and for that I am so grateful
